Jackets have always been the end game for me.  I have been collecting vintage motorcycle jackets for 30 years, cataloging them and studying them, taking them apart and putting them back together. More often than not, they left me wanting, either because of the fit, design, or just shoddy construction.  I get it, jackets are hard.  Fitting the human form is no easy task and making them is physically, mentally, and sometimes, emotionally demanding.  With the "6226", we pulled from the classic motorcycle jackets of the early-mid 20th century with updated fit and materials.  We didn't reinvent the wheel.  Instead, we are focusing on slow production and small runs with direct communication between the client and the maker.

We do our best to use the finest materials in the manufacturing process.  We take time to make sure each hand cut piece is taken from the hide at a place where the natural structure of the leather lends itself to the movement of that particular part of the jacket.   We want to respect the fact that this was an animal and although a byproduct of the meat industry, we want to make sure to honor the sacrifice and ensure we are utilizing the material wisely from a fit perspective while also reducing waste.  You can't just throw the patterns down on the hide and fit them together like a jigsaw puzzle.  You have to examine the hide for flaws.  You have to take into account the natural grain of the leather and place the patterns so they follow those natural lines and compliment the jacket structure.  Through my study of the jackets I have dissected, I have seen that these practices aren't often followed.  Companies will cut portions of a jacket indiscriminately throughout the hide and after years of wear, the jacket will begin to fit poorly in that section of the jacket.  They are focused so much on the bottom line and production speed, that vital aspects of the process are compromised.  We can't compete with these companies and frankly, we don't want to.  All this to say, we take this very seriously.  We want to make you the best jacket you've ever had, the one you've dreamed of wearing.  There are few articles of clothing that make you feel the way a well made and properly fitting leather jacket will make you feel.  We want to make you a great jacket with no pretense, at a cost that doesn't make us rich and doesn't make you poor.  I just want to feed our kids and keep the lights on.  Thank you for your support that allows us the opportunity to do what we love! -Emil
